Advantages: keeps your leisure battery charged when connected to a mains supply - charges at a voltage that will keep all the 12 volt appliances in your caravan/motorhome or leisure vehicle functioning properly (a stand alone battery charger voltage is to high and should only be used to charge, maintain and de-sulphate the leisure battery during idle periods).

Fitting: mount in a separate compartment (but near to) the leisure battery with good airflow around the charger - connect to your RCD/MCB protected 240 volt supply (just like wiring a plug) - connect + terminal to + terminal of leisure battery (in-line fuse, say 20 amp, should be fitted) - connect negative terminal to negative leisure battery terminal.

Why do I need a leisure battery charger?

A leisure battery charger is designed to be permanently fixed into a caravan, motorhome or RV. The leisure battery chargers normally have a maximum voltage of 13.8 volts whereas conventional battery chargers may have a maximum voltage of 14.8 volts or more and thus should not be used inside caravans/motorhomes etc. to prevent battery 'gassing' and potential damage to 12 volt appliances.
